A Trix picnic at Sir William McAlpine's private Fawley Hill Railway and
Museum. The museum is one of the largest private collections of railway
artefacts in the country. The railway is the steepest standard-gauge
steam-worked adhesion railways in the world, running through Sir
William's estate. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic or refreshments
will be available via a pop-up café in the station building. The train
may be ridden as often as visitors like, with about 10-12 trains per
day, each trip taking around 15 minutes as the line is 1.25 miles in
Admission to Fawley is from 11am and is strictly by invitation only.
Although there is no admission charge, members and their visitors are
asked to make a voluntary donation of £10 (adults 16 years +) and £5
(children 10-15). Please contact Peter Chipperton (TTRCA member and
Fawley engine driver) to make your donation and for your ticket(s), and
also if you would like to bring a layout or display.
